Hiding prejudice in plain computer code

The problem with computers, algorithms and artificial intelligence is that they create an illusion of impartiality. People with prejudice can hide behind this illusion. Unintended prejudice can often be overlooked. There is a tendency to underestimate the influence of programmers on computer-code outcomes.
